Mission Fest Sunday will be October 27th. Our guest speaker will be Shari Kastein, Executive Director/CEO of Family Crisis Centers in Sioux Center. Over the past three decades, Ms. Kastein has led the charge to transform the victim’s services’ landscape around the Midwest, as well as challenge the status quo of how others treat victims and survivors of many types of violence. Ms. Kastein has developed and implemented the victim’s services and programs in South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa. Most recently she was honored as a 2019 recipient of the Special Courage Award by the office of Victims of Crime by the US Department of Justice in Washington D.C.
She is a voice for those who feel they have no voice and encourage them to join the movement to better understand, support and advocate for victims of domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking, homicide, and any other violent crimes. Ms. Kastein will speak to the 7th grade through adults classes during the 9 am Sunday school and to the congregation during the 10am worship service. Following the service, FOC will be serving a pork loin dinner in the fellowship hall as a freewill offering fundraiser for our Rocky Mountain High trip this summer. All are invited and welcome to attend!
